Back in the habit

I am proud to say that I have not been stunted by my month hiatus from working out (no-thank-you sinus infection).  In fact, I have been more adamant about getting in my workouts and pushing myself even harder.  Conclusion: breaks (hopefully only a week or two next time) are good for you!  Yes, this is known fact, but you can’t always believe everything you read…

I feel refreshed, more energetic and more determined when I hit my workouts.  Take this week for example… Monday at Barry’s bootcamp, Wednesday I did my T.O.T. Fitness class in the morning and then a bootcamp class at LA Fitness that night, and tonight I did a circuit boxing class at LA Fitness.

Have yet to be impressed by Barry’s Bootcamp… what do the Kardashian’s see in this place?!  I am not a runner so although that part is rough, I leave feeling the same as I do after doing one of my own kick ass circuit workouts (details to follow).  My classes are an hour long and this one was unique as we ventured through the hills of Beverlywood.    The bootcamp class was also just OK.  I get that gyms have to make their classes available to all levels, but shouldn’t a bootcamp class by its very nature be geared toward intermediate/advanced and then provide modifications for beginners?  There is no push!  With no push, there is no improvement.  And if you’re not constantly improving, then what are you doing??  Last, but not least, my favorite class is circuit boxing.  The instructor is very nice and likes to take my suggestions, which means the other people in the class aren’t too happy with me, but come on how many times a week do you get to do a bear crawl or suicides??  My only problem is that he has bad form when doing squats and there’s not enough bag work.

My whole body is sore, which is a great feeling!  And I feel good again!  Don’t let breaks due to illness, life, or whatever get you down- use them as an opportunity to revamp your workout and find a new way to get healthy.
