10 Moderate physical activities:

Moderate physical activity is great to improve general health, control weight, improve mood, boost energy, and promote better sleep.

Aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day!  It doesn’t have to be at one time, break it up into 10 minutes, 3 times a day if that works better.

*Always check with your doctor before beginning any new exercise program.*

Remember… just have fun!  Physical activity doesn’t have to be structured, or even planned, taking a walk at lunch or opting for the stairs instead of the elevator can make the difference in working up to your 30 minutes of activity every day.

  1. Walking briskly (about 3 ½ miles per hour/1 mile in 15 minutes)
  2. Hiking
  3. Gardening/yard work
  4. Dancing
  5. Golf (walking and carrying clubs)
  6. Bicycling (less than 10 miles per hour)
  7. Weight training (general light workout)
  8. Playing active games with kids, like hokey pokey or freeze dance
  9. Water aerobics
  10. Stair walking for 15 minutes
